For some additional insight into your favorite D&DDT characters and players, we’re rolling out a playlist series to help capture the vibe of the folks making rolls for you every Wednesday.

This week, we’re getting to know Elijah Doolittle, the enigmatic newcomer who may know The Tasty Boyz much better than he lets on. You can check out all of the Tasty Boyz playlists on the official D&DDT Spotify account, or listen from the comfort of this website using the embedded playlist below.

What does it all mean? Here’s Worrier with the play-by-play:

Blackbird by The Beatles
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arise

Elijah has always wanted more: a wide world, freedom from convention, it’s his destiny to be something greater. It’s in his grasp, so now what?

Cough Syrup by Young The Giant
Life’s too short to even care at all
I’m losing my mind losing my mind losing control

Risk and reward. Risk and reward. Risk and reward. He thought he found the cure for ennui. He found the key to disaster.

Furr by Blitzen Trapper
I was drawn into the pack and before long
They allowed me to join in and sing their song

While many in his clan found solace in plants and nature, Elijah found that his place is with the animals. They bond. They fight. They kill. They understand.

Animals by Coast Modern
I was born an animal
I’ll be an animal til I die

The more Elijah bonds with animals, the looser grow his ties to humanity. People break promises, even to the ones they love. He’s never seen an animal break a promise.

Cocoa Hooves Part II by Glass Animals

You know the way that I hide

Fate. Sometimes it brings people together. Sometimes it tears them apart. Sometimes both. Kleatos isn’t the only one whose path was changed by his monastic master.

The Night We Met by Lord Huron
I don’t know what I’m supposed to do
Haunted by the ghost of you
Oh, take me back to the night we met

Elijah was born out of this song, and it encapsulates his current state: lovelorn, confused, regretful– if only he could travel back to that night when everything changed, maybe he could make the right decision.

Mykonos by Fleet Foxes
And you will go to Mykonos
With a vision of a gentle coast
And a sun to maybe dissipate
Shadows of the mess you made

Though it was always his dream to leave his village and explore the world, he never imagined that one day he would find himself banished. Sometimes the gentle push you desire is a hard boot, and though it hurts, Elijah has no one else to blame for the blood on his hands.

What You Know by Two Door Cinema Club
I am leaving and this is starting to feel like
It’s right before my eyes
And I can taste it, it’s my sweet beginning

The world is Elijah’s oyster. He even farmed oysters for a while. He knows Kleatos has the same destiny. Not farming oysters; but rather the world as an open book at his fingertips. He shouldn’t be alone. He wonders if Kleatos knows that.

Alligator by Of Monsters And Men
I am open and I am restless
Let me feel it out
Let it all come out

Feels like anyone who can become a dire wolf at will needs to have a soundtrack for the montage of running wild through the fields and the forests. This is that montage song.

Chicago by Sufjan Stevens
I made a lot of mistakes
I made a lot of mistakes
I made a lot of mistakes
I made a lot of mistakes

I made a lot of mistakes.
